RAID in Cloud Website Hosting
Our revolutionary cloud hosting platform where all cloud website hosting accounts are made employs quick NVMe drives instead of the traditional HDDs, and they operate in RAID-Z. With this configuration, multiple hard drives work together and at least a single one is a dedicated parity disk. Simply put, when data is written on the remaining drives, it is cloned on the parity one adding an extra bit. This is performed for redundancy as even if a drive fails or falls out of the RAID for whatever reason, the information can be rebuilt and verified thanks to the parity disk and the data saved on the other ones, which means that not a thing will be lost and there will be no service disturbances. This is one more level of protection for your information together with the cutting-edge ZFS file system that uses checksums to ensure that all the data on our servers is undamaged and is not silently corrupted.
RAID in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The RAID type that we employ for the cloud web hosting platform where your semi-dedicated hosting account will be created is named RAID-Z. What's different about it is that at least one of the disks is used as a parity drive. Put simply, whenever any data is duplicated on this special hard drive, one more bit is added to it and in the event that a malfunctioning disk is replaced, the info that will be cloned on it is a mix of the data on the remaining hard drives in the RAID and that on the parity one. We do this to make sure that your information is intact. Throughout this process, your sites will be functioning normally as RAID-Z makes it possible for an entire drive to fail without service disruptions and it simply works by using one of the remaining ones as the main production drive. Employing RAID-Z together with the ZFS file system which uses checksums to ensure that no data will get silently corrupted on our servers, you will not have to worry about the integrity of your files.
RAID in VPS Hosting
If you employ one of our virtual private server solutions, any content that you upload will be kept on NVMe drives which function in RAID. At least 1 drive is used for parity so as to ensure the integrity of your data. In simple terms, this is a special drive where information is copied with one bit added to it. In case a disk from the RAID breaks down, your websites will continue working and when a new disk replaces the malfunctioning one, the bits of the data that will be cloned on it are calculated by using the healthy and the parity drives. This way, any possibility of corrupting data during the process is prevented. We also employ conventional hard drives that operate in RAID for storing backup copies, so should you add this service to your VPS package, your content will be saved on multiple drives and you'll never have to worry about its integrity even in the event of multiple drive failures.
